For UK-established independent Etsy · eBay · Shopify · Amazon sellers selling into the EU

SafeSell is currently available to UK-established businesses and sole traders only.

Sort your EU GPSR paperwork without the headache.

Since 13 December 2024, products sold into the EU need an EU responsible person, risk assessment, traceability and safety info. Turn your own product details into the four document templates in about 10 minutes — no £500 consultant, no calls, no law degree. SafeSell generates the templates; you stay legally responsible for your product and for appointing any EU responsible operator you need.

SafeSell generates templates and helps you organise your information. It is not legal advice, does not provide an EU Responsible Person service, and does not guarantee compliance — you remain the economic operator responsible for your product.

The problem: marketplaces are now demanding GPSR docs

Since December 2024, online marketplaces must verify seller compliance — which is why Etsy, eBay, Shopify and Amazon now prompt you for GPSR information. Get it wrong and your listings risk being delisted — or being unavailable to EU buyers entirely.

A real legal requirement

Consumer products sold into the EU need an EU responsible person, technical documentation, traceability and safety info.

Consultants are expensive

A human consultant typically charges £500+ per engagement — a fortnight of what SafeSell costs for a whole year.

No staff to lean on

You're one person with a growing SKU count. You need paperwork completed in minutes, not a project.

How it works — three steps, about 10 minutes

1

Confirm your business is UK-established, then add your details

Two minutes. Confirm your business is established in the United Kingdom, add your business details once, and record the EU economic operator you appoint for your EU sales.

2

Add a product and tick its hazards

We map them to the right warnings and the right languages for the countries you sell into.

3

Download the four document templates

(operator record, risk assessment, traceability sheet, label template). View and print each one and keep them with your technical file — stored in your dashboard on this device so you can reprint or update them.

Four documents, one form

Built from the details you type once — and they update the moment you change anything.

D1

EU Responsible Economic Operator Record

Records the EU-established responsible economic operator for the product (colloquially, the 'responsible person') — the record marketplaces and authorities now ask for.

D2

Risk assessment & technical file

A structured safety analysis of your product, built from the hazards and details you tell us.

D3

Traceability sheet

One step back / one step forward record, plus the identifying marks that must go on the product.

D4

Safety-warning & label template

A printable label layout plus ready-to-paste listing copy for your Etsy, eBay or Shopify description.

Who it's for

You remain the UK economic operator

As a UK-established seller you are not yourself EU-established, so you cannot be your own EU responsible person. SafeSell explains how to appoint an EU-established economic operator (importer, authorised representative or fulfilment provider) and records them on your paperwork. It does not sell, broker or arrange that appointment.

If you sell only into Great Britain, GPSR likely doesn't apply — GB has a separate regime. SafeSell focuses on EU and Northern Ireland sales for UK-established sellers.

Fair questions, honest answers

Is this legal advice?

No — and we say so plainly. SafeSell is a self-service organising tool: it turns your product info into the paperwork GPSR asks for. You stay responsible for your product's safety and any extra testing your category needs (we tell you when that's likely).

Can I be my own EU responsible person?

Only if your business is established in the EU/EEA. As a UK-established seller you are not EU-established, so you cannot be your own EU responsible person — you need to appoint an EU-established economic operator (an EU importer, authorised representative or fulfilment provider). SafeSell explains that path for UK sellers and records whoever you appoint on your paperwork.

Isn't a spreadsheet enough?

A spreadsheet won't produce a presentable declaration or risk assessment that a marketplace or authority will read, and it won't keep your four documents consistent as your products change. That's the job.

I'm one person with 5 products.

Perfect — that's exactly who this is for. 10 SKUs are in the Starter plan for £12/month.

What if I don't sell into the EU?

Then you likely don't need GPSR — GB has a separate regime. The tool focuses on EU/NI sales.

Frequently asked questions

The EU General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988) applies to consumer products placed on the EU market from 13 December 2024 — including online sales. In short: if you sell consumer products into the EU (and Northern Ireland), GPSR now expects you to have an EU responsible person, a risk assessment, traceability, and visible safety info.
